Scope

What the audit covers.

The places where members are won, kept or lost.

  • Website

Joining, renewing and finding things, tested from a member's phone.

  • CRM and data

One record per member, or several systems that disagree.

  • Email and WhatsApp

What members receive, what they open, and what they never see.

  • Paid media

Google, Meta and LinkedIn spend, judged by members won, not clicks.

  • Search

How people find you, and the searches you pay for that would come anyway.

  • Integrations

Events, payments and membership systems, and the jobs still done by hand.

  • Reporting

Whether you can see which campaign brought each member.

  • Content

What you publish, who it is for, and what members actually read.

The method

How the audit runs.

People first, then systems, then a plan you can act on.

  1. Listen

Short workshops with your team, and surveys or interviews with members, so we know what they need.

  2. Look

Website, CRM, email, paid media, search, data and reporting reviewed together, from a member's point of view.

  3. Rank

Each finding placed on an impact and effort matrix: quick wins, major projects, fill-ins and the ones to drop.

  4. Plan

A plan on a page, in order, and a call to walk your team through it. You can run it yourselves or with us.

Where it led

From an audit to a new member CRM in months.

In 2022 we audited the Biochemical Society's digital set-up: surveys, focus groups and interviews, then a review of every system. The Society and its suppliers then delivered the phased roadmap: a new membership CRM, live in November 2022, and a new website with better search.

The Society reports 4,536 members in the new CRM's first full year (Trustees' Report, 2023).

Questions about the audit.

Who carries out the audit?

The people who would do the work: our HubSpot, paid media and data specialists.

How long does it take?

It depends on how many systems and people are involved. We agree the timetable with you at the start.

Do we have to use you for the work afterwards?

No. The plan is yours, written so your team or another supplier can follow it.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of your organisation and how many systems we look at. The first call is free. Project work is £992 a day, plus VAT, and we agree a fixed price with you before we start. See our pricing.
